A grassroot initiative with straight talk debates, aimed at fostering lasting peace and mutual understanding among the diverse ethnic communities of the Zambezi Region, is set to take place on Tuesday, August 5, 2025 at Ngweze Community Hall.

The Peacebuilding Educational Awareness Forum, is organised by Mr. Collen Kurana, a PhD Candidate, studying Peace Studies at the Durban University of Technology in South Africa, will be presented from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM.

The forum seeks to address social issues and tribalism that hinder peace and unity in the region by encouraging critical dialogue among the tribal groups, and major ethnic Mafwe and Masubia tribes. “We believe sustainable peace is built from the ground up, through open and respectful conversations that bridge social and cultural divides,” said Mr. Kurana.

With the theme “Promoting Peace Through Community Engagement in the Zambezi Region,” the forum invites all peace-minded individuals, leaders, and residents to participate in shaping a more inclusive and harmonious community. The event’s structure reflects its grassroots nature, with contributions from community leaders, volunteers, and local peace advocates.

The program will open with a prayer by Mr. Nicholas Kaela, followed by welcoming remarks from Zayne Michaels, who will also serve as the event’s Master of Ceremonies.

Key speakers include Mr. Simasiku Mulijani, a respected community leader, and Ms. Clara Manyando, the deputy speaker. Several volunteer speakers will also take the Centre stage to share perspectives on tolerance, conflict resolution, and community cohesion.

Mr. Poniso Millar, will deliver the closing remarks before a final prayer by Mr. Kaela. Attendees will also be served with refreshments and beverages by the courtesy of the forum’s management.

Organizers are urging community members, youth leaders, elders, and civil society representatives to attend and contribute to the discussions. “This is not just a meeting it’s a movement towards peaceful co-existence in Zambezi,” added Mr. Kurana.
