THE Namibia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NCCI) has re-established its Divundu Branch as part of a nationwide effort to strengthen grassroots business representation and promote entrepreneurship across the Kavango East Region.
The move follows a consultative meeting held on 9 October 2025 between the NCCI Secretariat, led by Chief Executive Officer Mr. Titus Nampala, and members of the Divundu business community. The session focused on how local entrepreneurs can engage with the Chamber to create a more conducive business environment through consultation, collaboration and policy input.
During the meeting, participants raised key issues affecting local enterprises, including limited support for small businesses, the need for better information-sharing, and improved engagement with local authorities. Entrepreneurs also underscored the importance of uniting under an organized business body to strengthen their collective voice.
Following the discussions, the Divundu business community resolved to re-establish the NCCI Divundu Branch and elected new leadership.
Mr. Mario Sawahenga was elected as Chairperson, with Ms. Mittred Kuvuritha Kupepa as Vice-Chairperson. The rest of the Executive Committee members are Mr. Frans Shinduvi, Ms. Wensel Kana, Mr. Muremi Shinkumi, Mr. Hungamo Kamburi, and Mr. Herbert Simasiku, representing sectors such as civil engineering, trading, automotive repair, and catering.
In his acceptance remarks, Mr. Sawahenga acknowledged the challenges ahead and emphasized the need to support informal traders in Divundu, who make up a large portion of the local economy. He called for teamwork, proactive engagement and inclusivity among entrepreneurs to advance the branch’s objectives.
Mr. Nampala commended the newly elected committee, urging them to be proactive and solution-driven. He stressed that Divundu’s rich forestry and tourism resources must translate into tangible economic benefits for the community.
“As a country, we must move from complaining to creating dialogues that result in practical solutions,” Nampala said, encouraging the new ExCo to unite regional entrepreneurs and drive economic transformation in the Kavango East Region.
