Ms. Mahoto explained that the Private sector needed to do more in the fight against Aids in the region which she explained that according to statistics was still at an alarming rate.
“looking at our region, it has the highest rates of people living with HIV, the private sector need to do more in fighting against AIDS as we hardly see them attending AIDS awareness events like this one we just had”, Ms. Mahoto said.
She believes that Businesses in Caprivi and Katima Mulilo in particular need to work with the government in coming up with initiatives that will educate people like students about the danger of HIV and AIDS.

Ms. Mahoto told Caprivi Vision that her institution was also doing it’s best in informing and educating people about the disease “we usually have our students gather and talk about social issues such as teenage pregnancies, rape, HIV/AIDS in the region”, she said.
She further said that they usually have weekly condom distribution by peer educators which she said was important in helping prevent the spread of HIV, unplanned pregnancies and other Sexual transmmitted deaseases among young people.
