Mr. Alex Kalala(48), a village Headman who also lost his house told Caprivi Vision that he also does not know where and how the raging inferno started.
“It happened on October 5, 2012 and up to now I am still shocked to what brought up the fire, people were just sitted under a tree and all of a sudden saw one of the houses burning” said Mr Kalala who is a Baker by profession. After that the people rushed to investigate what was going on but were left feeling helpless as the fire was spreading from one mud house to the next, killing a young calf and also torching a vehicle along the way.

Since the fire destroyed his village he is still finding difficulties to recover all his items he had before.“I lost everything in the fire, my cook books, blankets, other personal belongings and even clothes, I`ve had to ask from good Samaritans for clothes, he added further”. Mr He further revealed  that about 33 other family members were affected very badly by the fire.

Mr Kalala revealed that a big tent was also destroyed in the fire, “but by God`s grace no one died”, he said. “So far we have only received donations such as a blanket and some clothing from churches from Mavuluma and Choto”, The Caprivi Regional Council donated eight tents to the victims, but Mr. Kalala revealed to CVNEWS that the tents are just for temporary usage and have to be returned, The Namibia Red Cross Society in Caprivi also donated some blankets to them. He further asked for peace-loving members to support him in any kind so that he can make his project off the ground. His contact number is 0812735290.
