Zambezi Region will now have its female police commander for the first time since independence, Police Inspector General Joseph Shikongo announced the appointment on Tuesday.
Commissioner Julia Sakua-Neo will now serve as the Regional Commander for Zambezi with effect May 1, 2026. She was transferred from Kavango West Police Regional Headquarters.
However, other appointments include Commissioner Andreas Shipingana Shilelo, who has been transferred from Zambezi to Oshana Police Regional Headquarters and appointed as the Regional Commander.
Kavango West will be commanded by Commissioner Andreas Nelumbu, who worked in the Office of the Inspector General as Presidential Security Chief.
Oshana Police Regional Commander, Commissioner Naftal Lungameni Sakaria, was transferred to the Office of the Inspector General and appointed as a Presidential Security Chief.
