Zambezi gets a new female Governor

ZAMBEZI Region will now be in control of a female governor, Hon.Dorothy Mareka-Kabula, aged 62 , the former Linyanti Constituency Councillor who is the sixth Regional Governor , and first female governor for Zambezi Region.

Honourable Kabula is the former Member of the National Council in 2004 – 2010, and Regional Councillor for Linyanti Constituency in 2004-2010 on a SWAPO Party ticket.

She succeeded former Zambezi governor, Lawrence Alufea Sampofu, and she was appointed by Her Excellency President of The Republic of Namibia, Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah on Tuesday July 1, 2025.

Previously, Caprivi Region now Zambezi was administered by the first Regional Governor, Felix Mukasa since 1992 -1998 under DTA Party and John Mabuku now deceased (DTA), Bernard Sibalatini Caprivi Regional Governor since 1998-2007, (SWAPO) , Leonard Mwilima Caprivi Governor from 2008 – 2010(SWAPO) and Alufea Sampofu (SWAPO), since 2010 to 30 June 2025.
