Three Dead, Four Injured In Chetto Head-On Collision

Bwabwata National Park — Three people died on the spot and four others were injured, one seriously, after a station wagon and a truck collided head-on late Friday night on the B8 road at Chetto, inside Bwabwata National Park.


The accident occurred at around 00:15 on Saturday, 5 September 2026, when a Volvo station wagon travelling to Katima Mulilo collided with a Shackman truck heading in the opposite direction towards Rundu (W/Bay). The impact caused the station wagon to overturn.

The station wagon was carrying seven people. Three occupants — the driver, a Namibian male, and two Namibian female passengers — died at the scene. Three others, two Namibian females and one Namibian male, sustained serious injuries, while a fourth occupant, a Namibian female, sustained minor injuries.

The truck was carrying three people. The driver, a Zambian male, sustained minor injuries, while his two passengers, a Zambian female and a Zambian male, escaped uninjured.
Police say next of kin of the deceased have not yet been informed, and the names of those killed are therefore being withheld for now.
