In the recent just ended By-Elections for Katima Mulilo Urban Constituency held on Wednesday, the ruling SWAPO Party has returned Katima with a win of 1 557 votes.
The Electoral Commission of Namibia has declared Mr. Kennedy Simasiku Simasiku as a winner and new Councillor for Katima Mulilo Urban Constituency.
Among the contenders, Mr. Gibson Kabuna Nkando an Independent Candidate obtained 417 votes, whilst Ms. Lynnette Malipa of the Independent Patriots for Change (IPC) got 296 votes, the Popular Democratic Movement (PDM) Mr. Marklee Matengu received 294 votes, and Mr. Chripher Simasiku scooped 282 votes, and lastly Mr. Miller Kubwima as an Independent Candidate received 156 votes.
About 14 241 residents registered to vote, and 3002 cast their votes, 6 ballots were rejected.
