Shincheonji church hands over stationery to underserved learners

Shincheonji Church of Jesus Volunteers with underserved learners at Okahandja Park in Windhoek

Shincheonji Church of Jesus recently hosted a back-to-school stationery drive to provide essential school supplies to scholars in need.

The main event took place at Green Leaves Primary School in Okahandja Park, Windhoek. A representative of NANSO was also in attendance. Among the list of donors, Overt Engineering was one of the companies whose help was crucial to the drive’s success.

According to Ms.Ndunge Mbwale ,IBALI Africa Public Relations Officer explained that
“With the recent start of the new school year, many families are facing financial difficulties and various challenges due to a struggling economy, making it hard for their children to purchase the basic supplies they need for their learning.”

Shincheonji Church of Jesus through its various community outreach and support projects is dedicated to helping families in needy and ensuring that every scholar has the tools to participate in the learning process.

About 60 Stationery packs were distributed to the learners at Green Leaves Primary School, along with 140 books, exams pads, notebooks, and printing papers to the school. All the items for the back-to-school stationery packs have been donated by Shincheonji members from around the city and include items like pencils, pens, notebooks, rulers, scissors and other essential items.

Hundreds of excited learners also participated in the festive activities and atmosphere created by Shincheonji Volunteers on the school grounds. The learners of the Green Leaves Primary School choir gave a performance. The learners also enjoyed a musical performance by one of the members of hope church.

“We believe that every scholar deserves the chance to succeed, regardless of their family’s financial situation or their social standing,” stressed Shincheonji Volunteers spokesperson Mr.Gift Katjiuonjo.

He added that “This stationery drive is one small way we can make a big difference in the lives of these deserving scholars.The students and staff of the school were excited and thankful for the event. NANSO representatives were excited and encouraged to join us for future events.”

The church is also hosting similar back-to-school drives in communities and cities across South Africa, including Johannesburg, Gqeberha, Pietermaritzburg, Durban, Bafokeng, and as far afield as Harare in Zimbabwe.

Shincheonji is an international church organisation which has branches across all the continents of the world. The church organisation’s full name is Shincheonji Church of Jesus the Temple of the Tabernacle of Testimony and was established in 1984. The chairman and senior pastor of Shincheonji is Mr Man-Hee Lee.

Shincheonji stands for the Chinese characters of ‘new heaven and new earth’ and represent the new tabernacle and new people (2 Peter 3:13, Matthew 13:31-32, Revelation 14:1-5, Revelation 15:2-5). It has branch churches across the continent of Africa including Ethiopia in the North, Uganda and Kenya in the East as well as South Africa, Namibia and Zimbabwe in the South.
