PUPKEWITZ Foundation and Athletics Development Club (ADC) is inviting all Athletes in Namibia to participate, and compete in the coaching course and championships slated for 20 to 23 December 2021 in Swakopmund.
The Athletics Development Club (ADC) based in Swakopmund the coastal town of Namibia, the main organizer of the event is a new development club which started in March this year, and is aimed to give athletes the opportunity to compete in the Pupkewitz Foundation Open Athletics Championships.
According to Mr. Hennie Horn, President of Athletics Development Club, and a famous high jump coach from the coast explained that his ADC, and the Pupkewitz Foundation as the main sponsor, are working around the clock to identify a new talent by offering support training to athletes and coaches and giving the athletes opportunity to compete to each other.”
He said that the Pupkewitz Foundation Open Athletics Championships will be held on December 22, for the Age Groups 6 to 12 years and December 23, for 13 and above.
Mr. Horn added that athletes with disabilities will also take part in the competition and coaching trainings. Whilst a number of schools and clubs from across the country have started entering their athletes already.
The closing date for entry is 10 December 2021.
“Results are ever improving and we expect very good results for this upcoming Championships. An electronic timing system will be utilized to legitimize results.”
First, second and third place in each item will be awarded a medal as well as Overall Best Performer per category (sprints, jumps, hurdles, middle distance and throws).
Athletes will also compete for the Victor and Victrix ludorum in different age groups.
Training
Prior to the Championships, ADC with the support of Pupkewitz Foundation and in conjunction with Athletics Namibia (AN), will conduct a two-day coaching course to forty (40) coaches. This training will kick-start on 20 – 21 December 2021.
“The AN Basic Coaching course consists of a theory and practical part. On successful completion coaches will receive a certificate from Athletics Namibia. The more we invest in developing coaches, the easier it becomes to identify new talent and conduct regional training.”
He notified the fans and participants that Covid-19 Rules and regulations, as set out by the health authority, will be strictly adhered to.
ADC President further explained that “This Pupkewitz Foundation Athletics Championships will be memorable and I hope each parent, coach, official and athlete will enjoy every moment of it. Namibia has talent, so let us showcase them and identify our future stars.”
