Namibian President , Dr. Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, has appointed Major General Anne-Marie Nainda as the Acting Inspector General of the Namibian Police Force, with immediate effect.
In a media statement , the presidency announced that Major General Nainda will serve in an acting capacity for a period of one (1) year, taking over from Lieutenant General Joseph Shikongo who was suspended on Tuesday.
“This appointment is made in accordance with Article 32(4)(c)(bb) which vests the President with the authority to appoint the Inspector General of the Namibian Police Force.” the presidency said in a statement.
The new police Inspector General is a long serving law enforcement professional in policing operations, administration, and strategic coordination.
“She has served in several senior command roles within the Namibian Police Force and is widely regarded for her professionalism, integrity, and commitment to public service.”
She was appointed as the Deputy Inspector General of the Namibian Police in 2022.
The Namibian President has however expressed full confidence in Major General Nainda’s leadership and her ability to ensure the continued maintenance of law and order.
