NamPol Chief Inspector for Public Relations, Elifas Kuwinga has compiled the weekend of july 15 -17 2022 serious crime report from different towns of Namibia.
Okanguati: Reckless and/or negligent driving. On Friday, 15 July 2022 at around 00h45. It is alleged that a 23 years old Namibian male driver of a metallic blue Toyota VVTi 2.7 vehicle was driving from Omuhonga to Okanguati and lost control over the vehicle, it went off the road and bumped into a tree. The driver and all 4 (four) passengers between the ages of 20 and 36 escaped without injuries but were taken to Okanguati clinic for medical treatment and they are all in a stable condition. Police investigations are ongoing.
Windhoek: Housebreaking with intent to steal and theft – On Friday, 15 July 2022 at about 01h00 in the morning at Gocheganas milk Farm nearby Omeya Estate in the district of Windhoek. It is alleged that three suspects cut the chain which was used lock the farm gate, entered the farm premises and stole 4× Chicken trays and meat, valued at N$ 15 000,00 and loaded them into their getaway vehicle and drove off. The suspects where then intercepted and two suspects aged 26 and 31 were arrested. The 3rd suspect however to run away. Police investigation continues.
Wanaheda: Suicide by Hanging – On Friday, 15 July 2022 at about 08:00 at Havana. It is alleged that Leo Kohangwa, aged 36, Angolan national male, committed suicide after his lifeless body was found hanging with a rope on electrical pole. He was last seen in the morning as he left the shack saying he is going to the riverbed. It is further alleged that he lost his job few days back. Next of kin were informed, no foul play is suspected. Police investigation continues.
Onesi: Inquest Unnatural Death (Suicide by Hanging) – On Friday, 15 July 2022 at about +- 08h00, Okapale village, Omusati region. It is alleged that Kanime Simeon, aged 35, Namibian male committed suicide after his lifeless body was found hanging himself with a yellow rope around his neck in his sleeping room from the roof. It is further reported that, the deceased last seen was on Wednesday 13/07/2022 at about +-21:00 at Okapale village. Next of Kin were informed. No suicide note was left behind and no foul play is being suspected. The body has been transported to Okahao Police mortuary for autopsy. Police investigation continues.
Khorixas: Theft – On Friday, 15 July 2022 at an unknown time at Khorixas State Hospital Nurses Station. It is alleged that an unknown suspect stole one (1) x Computer box (CPU) black in colour, valued at N$5184-00 from the 50 years old Namibian female complainant at Nurses Station. No suspect arrested in this matter and no recovery made. Police investigation continues.
Oshakati: Corruptly using office or Position for gratification – On Friday, 15 July 2022 at about 09H40 at Oshakati Police Station, Oshana region. It is alleged that a 40 years old male suspect (Police officer) together with his colleague organized an undercover Operation and confiscate 14x Illicit Yes cigarettes boxes, with street value of N$ 2800.00 from the Angolan nationals who were selling illegally. The suspect only handed over 2x boxes of Illicit Yes cigarettes at Oshakati Police station while 12x Illicit Yes cigarettes boxes are not yet recovered. Suspect was arrested and is detained at Oshakati. Police investigation continues.
Katutura: Murder – On Friday, 15 July 2022 at about 23:10 at Iyambo Kalimbo Street (at a bar) A 28 years old Namibian male (Police officer) shot Sgt² Nestor Usebui (Police officer) in the head with a service firearm causing his death. Suspect and deceased are both members of Wanaheda Police station. Investigations found that the above members were at the Police College for a course but were in the location drinking before a quarrel erupted which led to the shooting. The victim was declared dead by Paramedic from City of Windhoek at 00h44, and the body transported to the mortuary. The suspect was arrested. Next of kin of the deceased were informed. Police investigation continues.
Opuwo: Contravention of Immigration control Act, Act 7 of 1993, sec 6, 7&8. On Friday, 15 July 2022 at around 12h30 at Okondaunue location. It is alleged that a 20 years old Angolan male suspect illegally entered in Namibia without documents. The suspect was arrested and due to appear in Opuwo Magistrate court Monday, 18 July 2022. Police investigation continues.
Opuwo: Contravention of Immigration control Act, Act 7 of 1993, sec 29(5). On Friday, 15 July 2022 at around 12h30 at Okondaunue location. It is alleged that a 50 years old Zimbabwean male suspect was found in Namibia with an expired entry permit and was employed without permit. The suspect was arrested and is due to appear in Opuwo Magistrate court on Monday, 18 July 2022. Police investigation continues.
Opuwo: Contravention of Immigration control Act, Act 7 of 1993, sec 30(1). On Friday, 15 July 2022 at around 12h30 at Okondaunue location. It is alleged that a 43 years old (Dentist) Zimbabwean male suspect employed foreign nationals without a residence permit and/or employment permit. The suspect is not yet arrested pending further Police investigations.
Khorixas: Reckless and/or Negligent driving – On Saturday, 16 July 2022 at around 00:30 next to Eastwood farm, Khorixas district, on Khorixas/Outjo main road. It is alleged that a 32 years old male driver was driving a silver Toyota Hilux bakkie and he bumped a calf which was in the road. As a result, 27 years old male passenger sustain slight injuries. It is suspected that the driver was under the influence of alcohol or narcotics. His blood samples was taken for analysis. Police investigation continues.
Rehoboth: Housebreaking with intent to steal and theft – On Friday, 15 July 2022 between 06:00-16:00 at Block B, Rehoboth. It is alleged that a 44 years old Namibian female 3 complainant left her residence in the morning for work to Windhoek and hide the house keys for her domestic worker. On her return at home she couldn’t find the keys at the usual place and used her keys to entered, but immediately realized that following items have been stolen; 1x Samsung TV, 1x Acer Laptop, 1x white coursey .R. computer box and 1x key board with total value of N$31 500.00. No suspect has been arrested and Police investigation continues.
Omungwelume: Theft of motor vehicle: On Saturday, 16 July 2022 at around 00:00 at Endola village. It is alleged that an unknown suspect unlawfully and intentionally took a silver Toyota Corolla vehicle, valued at N$35 000-00 without consent of the 39 years old Namibian male complainant. The property is not yet recovered and no arrest has been made yet. Police investigation continues.
Tses: Rape – On Saturday, 16 July 2022 between 01h30 and 04h00 morning hours at Gainachas, Tses area. It is alleged that a 23 years old Namibian male suspect had sexual intercourse with a 25 years old Namibian female victim under coercive circumstances. It is alleged that the victim was on her way from a party when the suspect approached her. Suspect grabbed the victim’s arms, twisted it behind at the same time he grabbed the victim on her throat and strangled her on the ground. Victim bite the suspect on one of his fingers. Both the victim and the suspect were taken to the hospital for examination. The suspect was arrested. Police investigation continues.
Oshifo: 1. Housebreaking with intent to steal and Theft 2. Contravention of Section 6 prevention of organized crime Act, Act 29 of 2004, Money laundering-(POCA) On Saturday, 16 July 2022 at around 05h50 at Etunda Green scheme project, Etunda village, Ruacana Constituency Omusati Region. It is alleged that three Namibian male suspects aged 24, 26 and 29 used an unknown object(s) to open the warehouse padlocks, gained entry and took following properties; 1) 22× 50 kg bags of Urea fertilizers. 2) 22× 25 kg bags of Magnesium Nitrate. 3) 09× 25 kg bags of Potassium Nitrate. 4) 02× 15 Litre Containers of Prosaro. All items valued at N$68 442.26 from the warehouse and went with the properties without consent. The items were recovered and suspects were charged and due to make their first appearance before Outapi magistrate court on Monday, 18 July 2022. Investigations in the matter is ongoing.
Eenhana: Housebreaking with intent to steal and theft – Between 30 June 2022 and 15 July 2022 at unknown time at Omhito location, Eenhana Town. It is alleged that unknown suspect(s) used an unknown object to break the burglar doors of the residence of a Zimbabwean complainant while the owner was outside the country. The suspect(s) gained entrance and took items valued at N$331 340.00 without owner’s consent. No recovery of the items were made and no arrest yet. Police investigation continues.
Tses: 1) Culpable Homicide 2) Reckless and/or Negligent driving On Saturday, 16 July 2022 at about 13:29 at about 30km to Tses from Mariental direction. It is alleged a white Mazda vehicle was travelling from northern to southern direction when the 42 years old South African female driver tried to avoid collision with another vehicle from the opposite direction. The vehicle went off the road and driver lost control over it and overturned and rolled once. There were five South African occupants between the ages of 9 and 69 years. The 69 years old Cornelius Jakobus Kuhn, South African male passenger died at the scene, while the other occupants who sustained serious injuries were taken to Keetmanshoop State hospital. Next of kin has been informed. Police investigation continues.
Onayena: Culpable Homicide – On Saturday, 16 July 2022 at around 13h48 on Ondangwa/Omuthiya mainroad at Onethindi. It is alleged that a 20 years old Namibian female driver of a white Volkswagen vehicle was driving from Ondangwa to Onathinge and bumped a 7 years old Namibian female pedestrian who was crossing the road. Driver does not have a driver’s license and was arrested. Body of the deceased was transported to Onandjokwe State mortuary. Next of kin had been informed and post-mortem will be conducted to determine the cause of death. Police investigation continues.
Bethanie: Reckless and/or Negligent driving – On Saturday, 16 July 2022 at around 16:30 on C13 road about 30km to Helmeringhausen from Maltahohe. It is alleged that a 42 years old Chinese National, male driver of the grey Toyota Prado lost control of the vehicle on the gravel road and it overturned. There were two passengers (Chinese Nationals) in the vehicle but they did not sustain any injuries, the driver sustained minor injuries and was transported to Keetmanshoop State hospital for medical treatment. Police investigations are ongoing.
Rehoboth: Housebreaking with intent to steal and theft – between Saturday 02.07.2022 and Saturday 16.07.2022, unknown time in Block B, Rehoboth. It is alleged that unknown suspect(s) gained entrance to the store room through window which was broken and forced opened the burglar bars with unknown object. Suspect(s) then entered and removed items valued at N$36500.00 without owners consent. No arrest has been made and Police investigation continues.
Eenhana: Inquest – Suicide by hanging – On Saturday, 16 July 2022 about 19h00 at Omadano village. It is alleged that Moses Shitala Nanghalu, aged 31, Namibian male committed suicide by hanging with a rope in his sleeping room. He left his residence on Saturday, 16 July 2022 in the morning and came back in the evening. No suicide note was left behind and no foul play is suspected. The body was transported to Eenhana State hospital mortuary pending autopsy. Next of kin are informed.
Onayena: Culpable homicide – On Saturday, 16 July 2022 at around 21:35 on Oshigambo[1]Onethindi main road at Onalulago, Oniipa Area. It is alleged that a 37 years old Namibian male licensed driver of a white Polo Vivo vehicle was driving from Oshigambo to Onethindi and at 5 Onalulago bumped a pedestrian who died on the spot and the vehicle overturned. The driver sustained serious injury on the left leg, while his passenger, age not known, also sustained serious injuries and as a result later died while in the hands of doctors at Theatre. Next of kin is not yet informed. Bodies taken to Onandjokwe mortuary for Post-mortem to be conducted to determine the cause of death. Investigations in the matter continues.
Ohangwena: Robbery with aggravating circumstances – On Saturday, 16 July 2022 at about 20h00 at Engela. It is alleged that four unknown suspects armed with two pistols entered into the victims’ house of which its door was not locked at the time. They attacked the victims by beating them and took following properties; cash money, a Shotgun, 2x wedding rings and cellphone. However while the suspects were leaving the house, they met the wife of complainant and assaulted her with an unknown object and took her wedding ring as well as cash money which she went to collect at their business. Only a wallet with documents of one of the victims was recovered. No arrest has been made and Police investigation continues.
