Popular Democratic Movement (PDM), President McHenry Venaani has promised to make Zambezi region an agricultural zone to create jobs.
This was revealed during the launch of the Party’s Election Manifesto held over the week -end on August 25, 2024 at Katima Mulilo Sports Complex.
Mr. Venaani reminded the residents that Zambezi region has more fertile land but nothing is being done to produce something from this land.
He pointed out that the Namibian government is buying water from South Africa while Zambezi has a lot of water and from this water the region can start a water plant.
“Why should we buy water, tomatoes and other vegetables from South Africa while Zambezi can be able to produce food here” Venaani stressed.
PDM President added saying that the PDM government will stimulate local industry to change it from the Tombo economy where most of the ladies are found engaged much on these types of businesses, while the economy is in dysfunctional state.
“We want to create a one constituency, one factory to bring development at Linyanti and put up a factory in that area so that people of Linyanti can get jobs right where they are.”
Venaani explained that this will be done through pursuing Global Foreign Direct Investments (GFDI) where the money will come to Namibia but projects will come to the regions.
