THE Annual NEDBANK Rural Tournament which marked to empower the rural communities through sport was held at Bukalo recently.
In an interview with CVNEWS Sport, Nedbank Manager for Katima Mr.Postrick Kasungo explained that the event was a success as everything went calmly well despite rough playing field that the teams had to do with.
Mr.Kasungo revealed that 10 teams were engaged in the tournament which were Mahundu United, Zebra F.C, Young Ones Football and Netball, Zambezi United Academic Football Club, Young Star F.C, Pirates, Romantic F.C, Come Together and Young F.C.
He said that the event gradually strictly classified for rural tournament, aimed at giving opportunity to young people to show case their talents. This is also one of the banks’ social responsibility to the Community of Zambezi Region.
After it had been all said and done, Chirao emerged victorious after overcoming Young Stars 1-0 in the final.
Chirao were laughing all the way to the bank with a 1st prize winners amount of N$7 000 while runners up Young Stars were rewarded with an amount of N$ 4 000 for their efforts.
In 2012, the rural tournament was hosted at Kalyangile to give opportunities to the young talent in Sibbinda Constitituency.The rest of the results of the winners is as follows:
N$ 2000 (4th Prize) – Zambezi F.C
N$2000(3RD Prize) – Zebra F.C

N$1000(3rd Prize) – Romantic Netball
