“This mandate is only possible if the water utility invests not only in the skills but also in water infrastructure maintenance and development, the prepaid electronic meter being officially implemented today is just one of those example”, explained Dr. Shivute.

NAMWATER  Chief explained that,  compared to the old one the new prepaid  electronic  meter system ,which cost N$500 000 has the capacity to calculate the volume of water that goes through it.

“In addition it also calculates the cost of the water that goes through it so it is a piece of equipment that eliminates human error and makes operation very efficient”, he said.

He explained that the Government and the people of Namibia must be rest assured that Namwater will not allow misuse of the trust that has been bestowed upon them in providing Namibia with affordable and reliable water.

“The water utility will continue to invest into the water infrastructure so that Namibia will have the most reliable water supply network ever”, Said Dr. Shivute.

Dr. Shivute revealed that this project is so far the first and only one in the long series of other projects that Namwater is going to embark upon in the future in order to improve Namibia`s water infrastructure, “the company has designed an infrastructure development programme which will see the corporation invest nearly 200 million Namibia dollars before the dawn of Vision 2030”, he furthers.

In conclusion the Chief Executive Officer of the Katima Mulilo Town Council , Charles Nawa thanked for playing an important role in supporting Namwater in reclaiming it`s long outstanding debt.
