Namibian Police Intercepts 12 stolen cattle from Botswana

The Namibian Police in Zambezi Region have co-opted with the community intercepting twelve (12) suspected stolen cattle from Botswana on Monday , July 20, 2026 at between Masambo and Omega 3 in the western Zambezi.

According to the police report , Commissioner Julia Sakuwa-Neo
Regional Commander in
Zambezi Region confirmed that the stolen cattle bears Botswana’s brand mark.

“Three (3) suspected cattle rustlers believed to have driven them from Botswana. One suspect was arrested and detained, a 20 year old Zambian male” said Commissioner Sakuwa-Neo.

She added that five (5) cattle suspected to have been stolen from Botswana were also recovered by community members of Omega 2.

“Two suspects ran away into Zambia. All stock were recovered and placed in safe custody pending verification by Botswana Police.”

Zambezi Police Commissioner further noted that Namibia has been used as a transit for cattle rustlers stealing cattle from Botswana, saying that this incidence follows previous recovery whereby about five (5) cattle were handed over to
Botswana on 14 July 2026.
