Namibia – South Africa to hold 3rd Session of Bi-National Commission

Namibia and South Africa will be holding a 3rd Session of Bi-National Commission (BNC) to be hosted by Namibia on 28 June to July 1, 2022 in Windhoek.

Amb. Penda Naanda, Executive Director in the Ministry of International Relations and Cooperation revealed that the 3rd Session will review cooperation in a wide range of areas including Diplomatic, Legal, Economic, Social, Defence and Security.

The two countries are expected to consider and sign new bilateral agreements and memorandums of understanding.

He divulged that “since the transformation of the Heads of State Economic Forum into the BNC in November 2012, the Bi-National Commission which Co-Chaired by the Presidents of Namibia and South Africa, has provided an impetus to further enhance Bilateral Cooperation, as well as a platform to exchange views on issues of mutual interest and concern at the regional and multilateral fora”

The Ministerial Session will be chaired by Namibia’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of International Relations and Cooperation Hon. Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah and co-chaired by Hon. Dr. Naledi Pandor, Minister of International Relations and Cooperation of South Africa.

The Namibia – South Africa Bi-National Commission will commence with a Senior Officials session, co-chaired by Amb. Naanda and Mr. Zane Dangor, Director General of the Department of International Relations and Cooperation of the Republic of South Africa.
