King Fisher Wins Katima Council Tournament Cup

KING FISHER won the Katima Mulilo Town Council first ever tournament Cup with cash prize of N$ 10, 000.00 plus a floating trophy.

This came after KMTC annual tournament which kicked-off on September 7, in Zambezi region following a great comeback of King Fisher to victory by 2- 0 over Real Cheetah over the weekend of September 15, Sunday afternoon at Katima Mulilo Sports Complex.

The Real Cheetah FC an NDF football Club streaked ahead after the striking Lubembo of King Fisher opened the scoring after penetrating between two defenders of Real Cheetah to win the ball and gave a tough shoot to the goalkeeper.

Real Cheetah tried to control the attack but their midfield was smashed by Phio a cemented midfielder for Fisher, goal attempts come from the underdogs but were out of targets and fire after Fisher winger Mwala came back on to struck to earn a goal as a brace from second half pegging Real Cheetah down to 2-0 in the final and won N$7,500.00.

Black Hawks won the third place prize amount of N$5,500.00, while Space Age won the last prize of N$ 4, 000.00.

Eight teams made it to the finals and won prizes making it 4 teams from soccer and 4 netball teams respectively, medals were given to the top 3 winners.

KMTC tournament was to empower HIV/AIDS through sports. HIV/AIDS it’s on a high rate in the region between the ages of 15-45 since this is the active group.

Buikezezo Charity organization was granted with the tune of N$10,000.00.

The Katima Mulilo Town Mayor, Hon. Charles Matengu officiated the handing over ceremony of winners.

 He encouraged youth to be involved in sports rather than spending their time abusing alcohol. KMTC still calling on other stakeholders to keep supporting the league for Zambezi.
