Katima Council former Chief in court for corruption

FORMER Chief Executive Officer of Katima Mulilo Town Council, Mr. Charles Nawa Nawa aged 49, a Namibian national made his first brief appearance before the Katima Mulilo district court magistrate Mr. Vincent Nzaca on Wednesday facing charges of corruption.

The accused Mr. Nawa was charged with the offences of wrongfully, unlawfully, directly and corruptly using his office or position for gratification for his own benefit, Fraud and theft under false pretences.

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) arrested Mr.Nawa on June 20, 2017 at his home ERF No: 1328 at Katima Mulilo farm some five kilometers North of Katima Mulilo Town.

His case is filed under case B 218 of 2017 and the matter was remanded to July 28, 2017 for legal representation feedback and he is out on bail of N$10 000.

His bail conditions are that he does not interfere with state witnesses, not to be seen at Katima Mulilo town council’s offices.

The accused former CEO Mr.Nawa is also not allowed to leave the district of Katima Mulilo without informing the investigating officer of the case and also to report at Katima Mulilo police station every Friday between 8:H00 in the morning and 17:H00.

Mr. Abrey Ndlovu is conducting prosecution against the accused Mr.Nawa.
