Caprivians are not politically matured

Dear Editor ,

Allow me space in your newspaper. Politics started in the early 1960s in the region when the leaders of CANU( Caprivi African National Congress) was  founded in 1964.

During those days it was very dangerous for blacks to have a political organisation which they can call their own while advocating calling for the independence.

Personally speaking with Mr. Dunbar Saini.

Personally speaking with Mr. Dunbar Saini.

The South African regime government imposed their divide and rule tactics to disunite blacks so that they should not have time to discuss matters affecting them.

The formation of CANU was the first movement of politics in the region at the time which was later followed by  the South West Africa People’s Organization (SWAPO)  when it returned back from exile in 1989.

During those periods of time, the South African regime government was not happy about the return of Swapo members from exile to come and campaign for the free and fair elections to be held in the whole Namibia including the Caprivi region which was supervised and conducted by the united nations.

Now, I think that people in the region were supposed to be in a position to know much about politics simply because they passes a very good track record as far as political situations are concerned ranging from the formation of CANU to the times when SWAPO members started to campaign for elections.

I would like to tell you categorically clear that the by-election that was held in the region at Sibbinda constituency were free and fair, but different supporters of different parties which took part in the by-elections ended up in a fight between members of the ruling party (SWAPO) from the heart of the constituency.

Finally this was brought by different political ideologies. I therefore repeat to say that people in the region are still not yet political matured. This situation symbolizes for sure that people lack political knowledge and understanding to accept a defeat.

I thank you

Caprivi Region

From Editor ,Thanks so much for your comments on the political maturity of our beloved citizens, one thing for sure that we should bear in mind is to be proud of our democratic rights such as regular elections, free and fair elections and that nobody has ever taken fire arms to fight over the out-come of elections in this country. Though you are not specific on what transpired at Sibbinda Constituency you did not tell us who  did not accept the defeat, in future let the readers of Caprivi Vision to know for sure about the happenings…
