A Zambian man aged 55, Mr.Bwendo Tolopo Kaumba was sentenced to 15 years for rape and three months for illegal entry into Namibia, by the Katima Mulilo Regional Court magistrate Mr. Mbongani Ndlovu on April 12, 2017.
The incident happened at Chantuhu village, Liselo area west of Katima Mulilo on March 23, 2016 and the accused was arrested on March 24, 2016 at Mpiyukazi village, Mabanga area.
He pleaded guilty to both charges, accused Bwendo during cross examination told the court that he do not dispute the matter because he is an old man who asked a minor girl to accompany him in bushes where he had sexual intercourse with her while applying physical force to her by grabbing and pushing to the ground and did not promise to give her anything after sexual intercourse.
Kaumba was represented by Mr. Hope Ngara from legal aid and Mr. Jatiel Mudamduri represented the state while Ms. Posha K Mubonenwa interpreted the matter.
