President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has appointed Hon. Frans Kapofi on Tuesday, Minister of Defence and Veterans Affairs, to oversee the Ministry of Industries, Mines and Energy on an interim basis, ensuring leadership continuity.

In exercising her constitutional mandate under Article 32(3) (i) (dd) of the Namibian Constitution, President Nandi-Ndaitwah had earlier assumed responsibility for the Ministry to maintain uninterrupted service delivery following recent leadership changes.

The interim appointment of Hon. Kapofi ensures that Namibia’s industrialisation, mining, and energy transformation agenda continues without disruption while a permanent ministerial candidate is identified.

President Nandi-Ndaitwah emphasized that government operations must proceed with discipline, urgency, and accountability, in line with the guiding principles of the 8th Administration and the priorities of the Sixth National Development Plan (NDP6).

“Government work must continue without pause, and I have full confidence in Minister Kapofi’s ability to steer this critical Ministry with diligence and integrity,” the President stated.

Hon. Frans Kapofi’s temporary leadership reflects the President’s commitment to stability, continuity, and constitutional governance, ensuring that the Ministry of Industries, Mines and Energy remains focused on advancing Namibia’s economic growth and energy transformation priorities.
