Katima Mulilo Town Council Chief Suspended  for Investigation

The Katima Mulilo Town Council’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Raphael Liswaniso has been suspended, with immediate effect  on Tuesday, without benefits to allow investigations to proceed without interference, in line with the Local Authorities Act, 1992.

Head of Public Relations, Mr. Muyoba Muyoba confirmed to Caprivi Vision that, the suspension of Mr. Liswaniso does not include salary and other benefits.

He added that his salary and other benefits are withheld, and the duration of his suspension is not known until further notice.

The Council stated that the suspension was carried out in accordance with Section 29(6)(b) of the Local Authorities Act, 1992 (Act No. 23 of 1992), as amended, and Rules 35 (2), (4)(b), and (5) of the Council’s Personnel Rules. The measure aims to ensure that investigations are conducted fairly and transparently in accordance with due process.

The Council further assured residents and stakeholders that municipal operations and service delivery will continue without disruption, under the supervision of designated officials during the period of suspension.

In conclusion, the Katima Mulilo Town Council reaffirmed its commitment to good governance, accountability, and transparency, emphasizing that the suspension demonstrates its resolve to uphold integrity and public trust in council’s  administration.
