Angola’s National Oil, Gas & Biofuels Agency (ANPG) , announced on Friday , at the Angola Oil & Gas 2025 pre-conference that it is introducing fiscal incentives to revitalise mature oilfields and sustain national production.
Speaking at the event, ANPG Incremental Production Core Coordinator, Victor Dos Santos, explained that the Incremental Production Decree reduces Petroleum Income Tax for operators and allows reinvestment in ageing assets that have produced about 70% of reserves.
The decree is expected to stabilise output above one million barrels per day by addressing production decline, extending asset lifespans, safeguarding jobs, and creating opportunities for service providers within Angola’s oil and gas sector.
Additionally, ANPG has introduced other measures including Decree 5/18 to extend exploration activities, Decree 6/18 for marginal fields, Decree 7/18 for gas monetisation, and Decree 8/14 to encourage further investment in mature assets.
Through these fiscal reforms, Angola seeks to remain competitive in the global energy market, strengthen investor confidence, and maximise revenues while ensuring long-term sustainability of its oil and gas industry.
