Seven Inmates Escape Ngoma Cell

Seven inmates escaped from Ngoma Police Station yesterday, Sunday, December 7.

Chief Inspector Kisco Sitali confirmed the incident that , this occurred after the escapees broke the cell through cutting the outer cell roof with an unknown object, prompting an urgent police search for suspects facing serious criminal charges.

The escape was discovered during routine cell inspections when officers noticed the damaged roof and found the holding cell empty.

According to Chief Inspector Sitali, the fugitives were all trial-awaiting inmates facing charges ranging from rape and drug possession to murder and housebreaking.

The escaped inmates have been identified as Mainga Kunyanda, Joseph Munalula, Makai Samutela, Simasiku Sikwezi, Mushe Simasiku, Moonga Kahiyata, and Kwalela Namushi.

The Police have since launched an extensive manhunt, deploying officers across surrounding areas and notifying border control points.

Chief Inspector has also urged the public to stay vigilant and to report any sightings of the escapees immediately, emphasizing that some of the suspects were facing serious and violent charges.

Police say investigations are ongoing to determine how the inmates obtained the tool used to cut the roof, while efforts continue to track down and re-arrest all seven fugitives.
