President of the Republic of Namibia, Dr. Netumbo Nandi- Ndaitwah has appointed Dr. Charles Mubita as the Minister of the Presidency, on Thursday.
Dr Mubita served as the Deputy Minister of Defence and Veterans since March 2025, and His appointment includes seven (7) members of the National Council who were appointed as Deputy Ministers, including a special adviser to the Ministry of Defence and Veterans Affairs.
According to President Nandi-Ndaitwah, the appointments came as part of her constitutional mandate to appoint members of both the national assembly and national council, and are geared to bring service to the people and strengthening executive powers of the state.
She said last year, 2025, after appointing ministers and deputy ministers from the national assembly, she decided to wait for the new members from the national council to fill the vacant positions of deputies, as they are all coming from the regional constituencies.
Hon.Moses //Khumub, Councilor of Guinas Constituency in Oshikoto Region and who serves as a member of the National Council, is the new Deputy Minister in the Office of the Vice President.
!Nami#Nus Constituency Councillor, in the //Karas Region, Hon.Hambeleleni Ndjaleka was appointed as Deputy Minister of Health and Social Services, Hon.Hans Haikali, Etayi Constituency Councillor, Omusati Region, is the new Deputy of Works and Transport, while Hon.Anselm Marungu, Ndonga Linena Constituency Councillor from Kavango East, was appointed as Deputy Minister of Environment, Forestry and Tourism.
Otjombinde Constituency Councillor, Omaheke Region, Hon. Wenzel Kavaka has been appointed as Deputy Minister of Information and Communication Technology. Hon.Edward Wambo, Rehoboth Constituency Councillor, Hardap Region, is the new Home Affairs, Immigration, Safety and Security Deputy Minister, and Hon.Theresia Brandt, Daures Constituency Councillor, Erongo Region, as Justice and Labour Relations Deputy Minister.
Hilma Nicanor, former Deputy Minister of Veteran Affairs from 2015- 2025, and SWAPO Party Secretary for Information and Publicity, was appointed as Advisor to the Minister of Defence and Veterans Affairs, Hon. Frans Kapofi.
