Prince Akashambatwa is new Senior Chief for Kaoma

Senior Chief Akashambatwa Mbikisita Liwanika in Kaoma at Naliele Palace

Mwanamulena (Prince) Akashambatwa Mbikisita Liwanika was on last month (October), installed as the new Senior Chief of Kaoma/Nkeyema and Lwampa districts taking over from His cousin Late Senior Chief Isiteketo Makweti Amukena who died last December 2022.

Dr. Liwanika has in the past served in many different positions in the Zambian Government , among them, having been a special advisor to the third (3rd) Zambian President late Dr. Levi Patrick Mwanawasa, Aka as He is popularly known was one of the founders of the Movement for Multi-party Democracy (MMD), a political party which ended the one party state rule of Late first Zambian President Dr Kenneth David Kaunda.

Between 1991 and 2001 MMD controlled an absolute majority in parliament, when its first former leader now deceased , Mr.Frederick Jacob Titus Chiluba was the second President of Zambia.

The new Senior Chief was installed by His Majesty the Litunga,  King Lubosi Imwiko II of Barotseland.

He has since been taken to Naliele palace in Kaoma in the western province of Zambia.
