IN the recently just ended Elective General Meeting held last week, Mrs. Sharon Zibo Limbo has been elected as the new Chairperson of the Namibia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NCCI), Katima Mulilo Branch.
The meeting, was held at the Zambezi Regional Council office, which brought together entrepreneurs from various sectors including tourism, horticulture, accommodation, fishing, and informal trading. The event was aimed to revive the branch’s leadership, which had been vacant since the previous committee’s term ended.
The Elective General Meeting began with an information session led by the NCCI Secretariat, where both members and non-members discussed the Chamber’s mandate, membership benefits, and its advocacy role in supporting business development. Many participants raised concerns about the lack of engagement between local leaders and entrepreneurs on matters affecting the regional business environment.
Following the session, several entrepreneurs registered as new NCCI members joined the fray paving the way for elections. Alongside Mrs. Limbo, is Mr. Frankie Mwinga Ntemwa who was elected as Vice-Chairperson, while Mrs. Mwaka Mukendwa, Mr. Richard Kakona, Ms. Sannety Sanyambe, Ms. Inonge Mabakeng, Ms. Michell Nguvauva, and Ms. Clara Likokoto were elected as committee members.
In her acceptance remarks, Mrs. Limbo said that although regional and local leaders are willing to collaborate with the private sector, there has been a lack of coordination. She expressed optimism that the new leadership would unify entrepreneurs and address the challenges facing business operations in the region.
NCCI Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Titus Nampala, congratulated the new leadership, urging them to remain accountable and proactive in their engagement with stakeholders to promote growth and development in the Zambezi Region.
The newly elected NCCI Katima Mulilo Branch leadership marks a fresh start for the business community in the region, with renewed commitment to strengthen private sector representation and advance economic opportunities in Zambezi.
