International Relations and Trade Minister , Hon. Selma Ashipala-Musavyi, has launched the Ministry’s Five-Year Strategic Plan (2025–2030) in Windhoek, setting a clear roadmap to advance Namibia’s diplomacy, trade, and international cooperation.

The event, attended by members of the diplomatic corps, senior government officials, private sector representatives, and development partners, marked what the Minister described as “a significant milestone in the Ministry’s institutional journey.” She said the plan reaffirms Namibia’s commitment to strengthening its global partnerships and economic diplomacy amid a rapidly evolving international landscape.

“This strategic plan reaffirms our shared commitment to advancing Namibia’s foreign policy, including international trade and investment, particularly in this rapidly changing global environment,” Ashipala-Musavyi said. “It represents not only a vision but also a commitment to action.”

The Minister noted that the strategic plan aligns with key national and international frameworks, including Vision 2030, the SWAPO Party Manifesto, the Sixth National Development Plan (NDP6), the African Union’s Agenda 2063, and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). She added that the plan is designed to guide the Ministry in executing its expanded mandate more efficiently and responsively.

Highlighting the importance of collaboration, Ashipala-Musavyi urged all stakeholders to actively support the plan’s implementation. “Today’s launch is more than a ceremony; it is a call to collective action,” she said. “Every Namibian whether in government, the private sector, or civil society has a role to play in advancing our national interests and development aspirations.”

The strategic plan focuses on enhancing economic diplomacy, strengthening bilateral and multilateral relations, promoting trade and investment, and contributing to peace, security, and sustainable development. It also aims to reinforce Namibia’s reputation as a reliable global partner while upholding the highest standards of professionalism and service delivery.

In conclusion, the Minister appealed for continued cooperation among all sectors to ensure the plan’s success. “Let us unite in our efforts to implement this plan and realize our shared vision of peace, prosperity, and sustainable development for all Namibians,” Ashipala-Musavyi concluded.
