By Muyambango Ngumbele at Linyanti

Linyanti Constituency Councillor Ivene Kabunga, who is now seeking for his second-term, held his first campaign community gathering over the week-end, urged residents to make the right choice in the upcoming elections slated for November 26, 2025 as he confirmed his intention to seek a second term in office.

Addressing hundreds of community members, Councillor Kabunga encouraged voters to focus on unity and development rather than tribal or language differences. He noted that all four of his opponents hail from the same village, warning against voting based on tribalism or family ties.
“The people of Linyanti should vote with vision, not emotion,” he said, adding that politics should be about improving livelihoods rather than settling personal or community disputes.
Induna of Malihela, Mr. Mutonga Lifasi, publicly declared his support for Kabunga’s re-election bid, saying he remains confident in the councillor’s leadership. “I am ready to vote for Kabunga again so he can finish what he has started. I am saying this to the big party, not these small calves,” Lifasi remarked.

Another resident, Mr. Muhinda Mubuyaeta, echoed similar sentiments, saying the community was not ready to “change the horse in the middle of the river.”

He argued that Kabunga should continue his leadership for as long as possible, citing SWAPO’s consistent record of long-term governance in the Constituency.
With strong endorsements from traditional leaders and residents, Councillor Kabunga appears to have secured significant community backing for his second-term bid, as Linyanti Constituency prepares for the upcoming regional elections.
Kabunga, won the 2020 Regional Election as an Independent Candidate (IC) with 1,903 votes in Linyant Constituency.
