United States (US) Under Secretary for Civilian Security, Democracy, and Human Rights, Ms Uzra Zeya is visiting Namibia from July 21-24, 2022.
Her four-day state visit to Namibia is geared to conduct bilateral meetings and to see firsthand U.S assistance programs to Namibia.
Namibia’s Ministry of International Relations and Cooperation has announced that the focus of the trip to Namibia will be on advancing shared global priorities on climate change, transnational crime, and discuss joint efforts to strengthen democracy, promote the human rights of all individuals, fight human trafficking, assist refugees and promote regional security.
In a media statement International Relations and Cooperation Ministry stated that “During the visit, the Under Secretary is expected to meet with members of civil society as well as Namibia’s young political and social leaders to hear their vision for Namibia’s future and the United States partnership.”
Ms Zeya will also be meeting the Deputy Minister of the Ministry of International Relations and Cooperation (MIRCO), Honourable Jennelly Matundu, who will hand over the US 2021 Report on Trafficking in Person (TIP) in which Namibia maintained the Tier 1 ranking, to her.
