UNIVERSITY of Namibia’s Katima Mulilo Campus has donated teaching materials and sanitary pads , to learners of Alufea Sampofu Combined School in Katima Mulilo on Friday.
According to Dr. Samuel Mafwila, Campus Director revealed that the School was selected by UNAM in collaborations with other Germany partners to support the school in kind.
He emphasised saying that “education is the foundation of progress, as an Institution of higher learning, we recognise our role in supporting the school that nurture the future leaders of our nation and that is you that is sited on front here”

He added that the donation was a testament to their commitment in empowering learners that no child is left behind.
“as we provide these teaching materials today, let us remember that the visual learning is a catalyst for comprehension, it transforms abstract ideas into tangible understanding. These tools will help make your lessons come alive in classrooms”
The teaching materials were done by UNAM Students who were doing a module called PBL (Project Based Learning), and some of them are now graduates who are also teaching at the same school.

Mr. Moses Kalonda, School principal of Alufea Combined School commended the University of Namibia that the materials will be used in teaching and learning to improve their academic performance of the school, and he however urged the entire stakeholders in the country to follow suit.
“we now appreciate this gesture and also looking forward to other stake holders to also join hands to support the school and these learners to support us as teachers in order to make sure that these learners can realise their potentials to become responsible citizens who are going to outlaw this country to greater heights” Kalonda said
At the same occasion , learners were very happy and excited and they welcomed the patron of their school Hon. Lawrence Alufea Sampofu, now the Regional Governor of Zambezi and former plan combatant during liberation struggle of Namibia with a poem entitled “The leading legend”

Alufea Sampofu, expressed his gratitude to learners who welcomed him with a poem “it’s a joy for me to come here today and those learners who gave a poem have finished it” He said.
