The Katima Mulilo Triumphant College branch is now offering bridging courses to grade 10 high school learners who are repeating the grade.

According to Mr.Felix Mkazi, the Principal of Triumphant College, the college began offering the course after Namibia Training Authority (NTA) advertised a tender of service provision for grade 10 bridging courses, after which the college was the sole winner of the tender in Caprivi region.

The bridging course program will commerce for 7 months, from Monday to Friday and learners will write exams at the end which will be set by The University of Namibia (UNAM) together with the Vocational Education and Training department.

149 learners have enrolled so far, with about 120 reporting for classes, which Mkazi added that the course is a preparatory curriculum for these learners to enter into vocational training, where they will do different courses of choice.

Mr Mkazi explained that the course has four subjects comprising of Mathematics, Physical Science, English and Life Skills.

“It is a bridging program for Grade 10 learners who obtained between 14 to 23 points and could not proceed to grade 11.  The course only enrols learners who did their grade 10 from 2009 to 2011.

“We have a crop of very qualified teachers who are  have degrees, with only one among them having a masters degree. These teachers all have more than fifteen years teaching experience” Caprivi Vision is informed.

Mr Mkazi remarked that NTA is sponsoring the learners and will continue to sponsor them so long as what they are doing is in line with vocational training.

“Fortune knocks at a man`s door once in his life time. These learners have faltered along the way, but now they have the opportunity to pick themselves up have a role to play in terms of reaching vision 2030,” Mkazi said.
