What baffles me is that since the announcement and launching of the Report by Hon Alfeus Sampofu ,Governor of Zambezi Region and Ms Clarina Diaz ,Proprietor of Zita Dias Diamond Resources of the announcement of the Breaking News of the discovery of 15 critical minerals in the region on 13 August 2024,the line Ministry of Mines and Energy has been mute neither are Hon Ministers, MPs, etc from the Region nor Regional leadership ,entire residents of the region.
Why is this so? indeed such an important discovery would have generated such excitement, jubilation and sheer joy that everybody would have been celebrating coz this mining milestone would benefit not only the region but the entire Namibian nation at large.
Which brings me to ask a pertinent question. Do Namibians from the Zambezi Region(or Caprivians) have a death wish? lf the issue was tampering with some boundary, everybody would be up in arms.
Do we have educated fools and hibernators in our region sabotaging mining projects in our region? I say so because some of these turncoats with tainted corruption cases waiting to be hauled before the criminal justice system have a third force pulling the strings as they want to eat alone.
These people with Entitlement Mentality do not want fellow Namibians to benefit from the resources of Namibia and shame on them.
lt is the irony of history that politics make strange bedfellows because who would have envisaged that the same elements, some from the Zambezi Region, were the same darlings of the previous Apartheid system but today they pretend to be more SWAPO than the Founding President!
My humble advice to all residents of Zambezi Region is to smell the coffee, wake up from the slumber and take ownership of our resources and demand that we reap benefits which shall lead to accelerated development of the Zambezi Region. No pun intended but we should NOT follow the developmental pattern such as KarasN Region which is imbued with abundant mineral resources, such as Namdeb’s Diamonds but look how impoverished that region is today!
