Electricity Supply Industry to celebrate 19th forum

THE Electricity Supply Industry (ESI) is set to celebrate its 19th forum edition slated for October 24, 2024 at Otjiwarongo in the Otjozondjupa region.

This forum will follow another successful forum held in Oshakati in 2022 and gathered a massive number of stakeholders across the electricity sector. The event took long to be celebrated because of the 2019 pandemic which affected a lot of meetings and gatherings.

This year’s event is titled under the theme “Delivering the promise; Using smart solutions in an AI-driven Environment to improve electricity access, affordability and utilities sustainability “which will underscore the Namibian ESI’s commitment to transform the local electricity landscape.

The event will be officially opened by Honourable Tom Alwendo, Minister of Mines and Energy along with Honourable James Uerikua governor of the Otjozondjupa region.

The event will include the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the ECB, Mr Robert Kahimise, Managing Director of NamPower Mr Kahenge Simson Haulofu, and the CEOs from the Regional Electricity Distributions (REDs) with all independent power producers, local municipal leaders, farmers schemes and consumer presentative bodies.

“We are on the brink of a significant shift in how we manage and deliver electricity services” said Mr Kahimise, ECB Chief Executive Officer.

Mr Kahimise stated that the integration of smart solutions and AI-driven programs is not just an option but its essential for enhancing electricity access and affordability while ensuring the sustainability of our utilities.

he however stated that, this forum serves as a crucial platform for s stakeholders to engage collaboration and explore how the organisation can implement these systems effectively for the benefit of the customer.

“By fostering collaboration and communication among stakeholders, we aim to enhance the overall customer experience and improve service delivery, as we embrace the imminent arrival of AI- technologies, it is critical for industry players to start gravitating towards incorporating AI-driven solution into their operations” Kahimise explained.

He went on inviting Namibian stakeholders including the public at large to join ESI’s forum as they work together towards a more sustainable and innovative electricity supply industry.

“Our commitment tis towards more sustainable solutions that will elevate the standards of electricity supply across the nation,” concluded Kahimise.
