A Katima Mulilo resident, who pretended to be an uncle of the 13 year old minor girl, whom he later sexually assaulted, is now arraigned before the town’s Regional Court on the charges of rape.
Mr. Erick Pessa Sondaha, age unknown, is charged with rape under the CR: 11/10/09, case no: RC 05/2012), for the crime he committed in 2009 against the minor child he claims he is related to.
Sondaha, who is represented by Mr. Van Vuuren, made an appearance in the court on November, 8 and 9, 2012 for trial.
The Judgment on the matter is expected to be passed on June 05, 2013.
Sondaha was arrested on October 4, 2009, and is currently out on bail of N$1000.
It is alleged that on October, 4, Sondaha tricked the minor child, name withheld as the child is under age, whilst she was on her way from her afternoon lessons.
Sondaha allegedly told the minor child that he was her uncle, after which he lured her to his house under the pretext he wanted to get to know her as it had been long since he last saw her. The two then went to Sondaha house, where he offered her a drink.
however, it is alleged that, when the victim was sitting in the living room, Sondaha went to the kitchen on pretext he was going to get their drinks, but allegedly emerged from the same room with an unbuttoned shirt.
Sondaha started making sexual advances to the victim by attempting to remove her school uniform. The victim then allegedly panic and wanted to run out of the house but was stopped in her tracks.
Sondaha then allegedly pin the victim to the ground after slapping her. He then got on top of the minor victim and lowered his trousers and proceeded to have sex with her, whilst threatening to kill her if she tells anybody.
The matter was reported to the police , when the minor’s guardian noticed something was amiss with her.
Medical tests were conducted, after which Sondaha was apprehended by the Police.
